In 2022, the European program “NextGenerationEU” funded the SUS-MIRRI.IT project, aimed at enhancing and reinforcing the MIRRI Italian Research Infrastructure to foster sustainable bioscience and bioeconomy initiatives.
In detail, the main objectives of this project are:
What we offer
Centralized entryway
A single point to access all the collections
No-cost or economically viable solutions
The goal is allow everyone to partecipate
Training prospects
Courses and events are provided by all partners of the project
Extensive collection of High-quality microbial resources and data
A catalogue of high-quality strains from different domains is offered
SUS-Mirri.it for researchers
SUS-MIRRI.IT offers external researchers a centralized gateway to access over 50,000 microbial resources, their derivatives, and associated data. This access is complemented by cutting-edge facilities, advanced technological platforms, and a reservoir of expertise spanning various scientific domains and applications, including:
- Microbiology in environmental, industrial, agricultural, food, and clinical contexts
- Preserving biodiversity in several realms
- Exploring pharmacology and toxicology
- Enhancing biotechnology in the food industry
- Studying microbial diversity and taxonomy
- Investigating microbiomes and culturomics
- Progressing microbial molecular biology and biotechnology
- Managing bioinformatics and metadata with precision
SUS-Mirri.it for industries
The streamlined approach ensures efficiency while remaining cost-competitive.
From generating antimicrobials and bioactive compounds, as well as enzymes for the pharmaceutical sector, to fostering the production of more wholesome food and feed items (including ingredients), orchestrating biological solutions for agricultural soil and crop management, remediating polluted sites or contaminated effluents, and propelling the development of sustainable biobased chemicals, materials, and fuels – MIRRI is exceptionally poised to fulfill an array of demands across Health & Food, Agro-Food, and Environment & Energy sectors.
